Welcome to the Anglo Sikh Virtual Museum

Anglo Sikh Virtual Museum demo wows audiences.

17th August 2018
Jubilee Square
Leicester

Part of the Indian Summer Open Air Cinema

The public witnessed the first demonstration of what the Anglo Sikh Virtual Museum will look like.

The demonstration took place at Jubilee Square, Leicester as part of the open air cinema event organised by ‘An Indian Summer’ and sponsored by Sony TV.

It was a great turn out where the public got to see the vision of the world’s first online museum. The demonstration allowed the public to wear special virtual reality glasses and see objects in a virtual environment. This included a sword, a sikh flag , a sikh cannon and other objects. This was together with the ‘SMI ‘ touschcreen monitor on display.

The feedback left by visitors to the demonstration was important for us to develop and make changes to the full online museum.

Feedback included:

” i  thought it was fantastic and really brought artifacts to life. The detail was very intricate and saw it more closely than in a museum”

” i think it’s a great way to educate people about Sikh history”

” Very realistic. Brings the past to life! Well done”

More demonstrations and training sessions will be announced in the coming months. Special thanks to ‘An indian Summer’. The Anglo Sikh virtual museum is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. Join our mailing list for more events.
